Intermetallics 2019

September 30 – October 4, 2019

It is meanwhile a pleasant tradition to invite you to our upcoming Intermetallics 2019 Conference. It will be the fourth meeting in this successfully established series of conferences, which this time is scheduled from September 30th till October 4th 2019.

Following our traditional scheme this conference will focus on materials based on intermetallic phases (Intermetallics) to be envisaged for structural as well as functional applications. With a beneficial combination of high strength, low density and good corrosion resistance, they are specifically suited for applications at high temperatures and in severe environments. As some intermetallic phases show unique physical properties, they are also of interest for various functional applications. In addition, their possible appearance, thermodynamic stability, and role as strengthening phases in High Entropy Alloys (HEAs) or Compositionally Complex Alloys (CCAs) are recent scientific issues which are also in the focus of this conference.

The choice of local organisers and members of the international advisory board remains virtually unchanged compared to previous conferences, thus providing not only representation of all relevant topics but also a good balance between research and application. Topics of general importance will be dealt with in single sessions in the morning, while current materials, such as γ-TiAl, iron aluminides, silicides, or certain aspects of intermetallics will be the subject of two more specific parallel sessions in the afternoon. A high-profile poster session will be rounding off the conference. Following the last successful educational seminar, a “School on Corrosion and Oxidation Behaviour of Intermetallic Phases” including possibilities and strategies for protection by appropriate coatings which is specifically devoted to young researchers up to the PhD level will precede the conference.

The conference will again take place at the Educational Center  Kloster Banz near Bamberg, Germany. The cloister is situated in a remote place above the valley of the river Main. As a well-known educational centre, it is an ideal place for conferences with its good infrastructure and relaxing atmosphere. In addition, being situated in the central part of Germany, it is easily accessible from Nuremberg, Munich and Frankfurt airports.

We are looking forward to welcoming you in Banz,

Your Intermetallics 2019 Congress Team
