Biogenic and bio-derived materials for sustainable energy systems

In the context of a growing interest towards the design of recyclable and sustainable materials, this symposium will cover the recent developments in the preparation, characterization and application of advanced and smart bio-derived and biogenic materials for energy and photonics applications.

Scope:

This symposium covers the development of novel advanced multifunctional materials, including their preparation, characterization and application in photovoltaics, ligting and optoelectronics. The aim of this symposium is to focus on synthetic and natural functional materials from design to application, with a particular eye on the recent advancements in biogenic, bio-derived and bio-inspired alternatives (but not only), as well as on their sustainability and circularity at lab and pre-industrial scale.
Theory and novel methods towards the selection and preparation of efficient functional materials will be presented, representing a unique strategy towards both a priori design of materials with desired properties and the deep understanding of their properties upon operation conditions in device. The advancements in the synthesis of novel materials as well as material components (small molecules, ionic liquids, dopants), together with their preparation and processing techniques will be fundamental towards the development of a discussion platform in between experts from different fields (chemistry, electronics, optics, material science).
Overall, synthesis, characterizations, structure-property relations, analytical and simulation studies, device performances related to photo- and thermal-stabilities and device architectures will be the core of this multidisciplinar symposium.
