Tutorial

Advanced Materials and Sustainability
Sunday May 24, 2026
The implementation of advanced sustainable materials for a future sustainable circular economy requires profound knowledge on materials design, environmental footprints and long-term performance which is the topic of the ISMES.
This tutorial provides an introduction and hands-on approach to prospective renewable and recyclable energy converter materials. The discussion will cover the design of materials using machine learning suitable for solar power converters, recycling technologies, wind energy, geothermal, thermoelectric, fuel cells, hydrogen, and artificial photosynthesis. We will discuss critical materials, sustainability measures, financial perspectives, utilization of machine learning tools, scalability and regulatory aspects.
