Young Researcher Awards

E-MRS Young Researcher Awards (YRA) are intended to honor and encourage graduate students whose academic achievements and current materials research display a high level of excellence and distinction. E-MRS seeks to recognize students of exceptional ability who show promise for significant future achievement in materials research.
E-MRS announces the availability of awards (up to 2 per symposium) for Young Researchers conducting research and a topic to be addressed in a symposium held during the E-MRS 2026 Fall Meeting & Exhibit.
Each award will consist of a grant of 450 Euro which will be presented with a diploma.
Eligibility
To be eligible for an E-MRS Young Researcher Award at the E-MRS 2026 Fall Meeting & Exhibit, the applicant must be registered as a student undertaking a PhD research program on a topic within the scope of a symposium held during the E-MRS 2026 Fall Meeting & Exhibit.
The applicant must be the main, or a coauthor, of a manuscript and must be responsible for the oral or poster presentation of the paper to be delivered at the conference.
In addition, the appropriate registration fee for participation at the conference must be paid by, or on behalf of the applicant prior to the conference.
Application
The following items must be included to be considered for the Young Researcher Award competition:
- The completed application form (see below)
- One copy of the abstract submitted for the conference
- Description of work associated with the abstract to be considered
- Letter of support submitted by the candidate’s PhD Supervisor.
Deadline
The applicant must complete the form below by July 31, 2026 at the latest. Any application received after the deadline will not be considered.
Ceremony
The award ceremony will be held on Wed. Sept. 16 at 18:00 at the beginning of the conference reception.
