Sustainable energy storage relies on advanced devices and operando techniques to understand material behavior in real time. Combining innovative device design with computational methods, ML, Big Data, and advanced experimental approaches is crucial for developing efficient, long- lasting technologies.
Scope:
The transition from fossil fuel-based energy to renewable technologies necessitates the development of advanced materials and energy storage devices that are efficient, durable, safe, and environmentally friendly. Addressing this challenge requires a holistic approach, combining the discovery of innovative materials with the development of advanced devices and operando characterization techniques to understand their behavior during operation.
This symposium will highlight cutting-edge advancements in both material development and device fabrication, as well as operando methods that provide insights into the chemical and physical processes within energy storage systems. Topics will include batteries, fuel cells, and hydrogen storage, emphasizing advanced materials, such as solid-state electrolytes, nanostructured electrodes, and emerging hydrogen storage materials. Great emphasis will be given to processes related to recycled or recycling of energy materials and technologies. Key focus areas will include the integration of operando techniques like in situ spectroscopy, microscopy, and scattering methods to track synthesis, mechanisms, and changes at the atomic and mesoscale, enhancing our understanding of materials in action.
We aim to foster discussions on the latest advancements in material discovery, device prototyping, and real-time diagnostic tools, along with computational modeling methods that accelerate the design and optimization of energy storage technologies.
