VElectrospun Fiber-Based Materials and Composites: From Fundamentals to Applications
This symposium will focus on emerging materials based on electrospun fibers and composites, covering advances in design, processing, and applications. Emphasis will be placed on multifunctional systems for energy, environmental, and biomedical technologies.
Scope:
This symposium will bring together researchers from academia and industry to explore recent advances in electrospun fiber-based materials as well as their integration into functional composite systems. Electrospinning has emerged as a versatile and scalable technique for fabricating nanostructured materials with controlled morphology, composition, and hierarchical architectures, enabling applications across multiple technological domains.
The scope will cover fundamental aspects, including electrohydrodynamic phenomena, multiphysics modelling, and structure–property relationships, as well as advances in fabrication strategies such as multi-jet, coaxial, and needleless electrospinning. Particular emphasis will be placed on process optimization, in situ diagnostics, and pathways toward industrial scale-up and reproducibility.
The symposium will also highlight the development of novel polymeric, hybrid, and composite materials, including sustainable and bio-derived systems. Special attention will be given to the use of green solvents, environmentally friendly processing routes, and strategies to reduce the environmental impact of electrospinning technologies.
Emerging applications will be addressed in areas such as energy harvesting and storage, catalysis, environmental remediation, filtration, sensing, smart textiles, and biomedical engineering, including tissue regeneration and drug delivery.
By bridging fundamental science with applied research, the symposium aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and identify future directions in the design and implementation of electrospun materials, including AI-assisted design and the translation of laboratory-scale innovations into real-world technologies.
