Materials for Energy & Sustainability
GPhotocatalytic materials for environmental remediation and sustainable technologies
Following the success of previous symposia, we propose a new edition focused on photocatalytic materials for environmental protection and sustainable technologies. The symposium will address photocatalytic, catalytic and hybrid materials for water and air treatment, disinfection, pollutant removal and environmentally responsible processes.
Scope:
The proposed symposium aims to respond to growing worldwide challenges related to environmental remediation, pollution prevention and resource-efficient treatment technologies. Photocatalytic materials offer significant opportunities to address these issues through environmentally compatible technologies. Research efforts worldwide are increasingly focused on developing photocatalytic systems capable of enabling efficient, low-energy and scalable solutions for environmental protection, pollution control and sustainable environmental technologies. The symposium will therefore focus on photocatalytic materials, including inorganic, organic and hybrid systems, in nanostructured and thin-film forms.
- Photocatalytic material growth and assembly techniques, advanced characterisation methods, modelling approaches, and reactor or device fabrication for mineralisation and disinfection of water by advanced oxidation processes (heterogeneous photocatalysis, photo-Fenton reactions), filtration technologies (membranes) and hybrid catalytic processes.
- Photocatalytic materials, characterisation, modelling and device fabrication for air purification and decontamination using photocatalytic oxidation, adsorption and related processes.
- Photocatalytic and photoelectrocatalytic materials and systems for environmental treatment, including emerging contaminants, disinfection, persistent pollutants and complex waste streams, with emphasis on materials–process interactions and integration into practical treatment technologies.
- Polymeric, carbon-based and hybrid photocatalytic materials (synthesis, characterisation and environmental testing) for removal or transformation of contaminants in water and air, as well as for integration into functional environmental devices and treatment systems.
- Environmental impacts, sustainability considerations and safety aspects associated with photocatalytic materials and technologies, including strategies for risk mitigation and the development of safe-by-design systems.
All researchers interested in photocatalytic materials for environmental protection, pollution control and sustainable chemical processes are encouraged to participate and submit their contributions.
Hot topics to be covered by the symposium:
- Photocatalytic materials for environmental remediation
